Good to know
The dock is near the back of the property (see pictures). The water is waist deep immediately off the dock, perfect for jumping into the lake and docking your personal or rental boat. At the end of the night enjoy our chairs while looking up, taking in the vast night starry sky. Enjoy being surrounded in the beauty and healing power of nature, relaxing, feeling warm and toasty, hearing the crackling fire and breathing in the fresh Kawartha Lakes air. Other Details to Note
- There may be a bundle of firewood leaning up against the house. You can purchase more at the local gasbar. - There's also a bylaw so no fires are allowed before 7pm - no idea why but I also don't want you to get fined. - There's a full kitchen and dishwasher (please do your own dishes before you leave) and all the main cooking and BBQ utensils you'd need. - The water off the dock is only about over chest height, so don't dive, but a shallow cannonball will work. The water gets deep about 20 ft further out. - The cottage is also on a septic tank, so please only put toilet paper in it and while the water is unlimited, it's also not a good idea to have more than like 4-5 quick showers in a short time frame. - The water is from the well and is safe to drink. If you are not use to well water we recommend bottled from the grocery store. - 3 to 7 night minimum stays on long weekends and during summer All garbage and recycling must be taken with you on departure (clear bags provided). There is no garbage pick up in our area. Landfill information is provided with a pass. If you are unable to take with you we can arrange for garbage removal for additional fee. For summer: Free parking for the cottage is available (no inside garage parking available). There is ample parking on the driveway. For winter: The laneway leading to the cottage is regularly maintained by the municipality and plowed, as well as the top parking lot, however, snow accumulates quickly in Kawartha Lakes and a 4 wheel drive vehicle maybe necessary. Never attempt to step out unto the frozen lake near the dock when temperatures have not been ideal for ice fishing. Snowmobiling during the winter is popular in the area and on the ice.
